Blossom Cottage Counselling

"Emotionally, I won’t take you somewhere that I haven’t been to already."

Welcome

Would you like a happier future, where difficult feelings are resolved, either in the past or present?

Does life feel like a constant struggle?

Do you feel overwhelmed by your emotions, your family and where you work?

Are you finding it difficult to process your grief, trauma or perhaps your anxiety is making your life unbearable?

May I welcome you to my website and thank you for taking the time to read. Perhaps you or someone you care about is struggling with an issue or other diffuculties in your/their life. Life challenges us all and may include trauma, anxiety, bereavement, bullying, domestic violence, loss of confidence, a pet bereavement perhaps or a sibling, a spouse, a good friend. The list may be endless. Other issues I can help with is depression, identity, peer, school and parental pressure, suicidal thoughts, relationship problems and anger. There are other challenges I can enable you with and you are warmly welcome to my other page of issues I can help with.

The last few years have been traumatising for so many people, especially young people and our older people - they are bewildered and may be in the winter of their lives. The Covid lockdowns have been detrimental for us all and now we have teachers and some of the NHS on strike, the crises of living costs, the war in Ukraine. We have been impacted and I am doing OK.

I know it can be hard to realise that you need help and reaching out can be a daunting prospect. Sometimes we all need support to work through certain challenges in life and reaching out is the first step towards a more positive future.

My name is Sarah and I am a person centred, integrative counsellor, working online or in person from my consultation room near Banbury, which is quite close to Bicester, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Brackley, Leamington Spa and all places in between. I am also able to attend home visits. I wilI provide you with a safe, comfortable and non-judgemental space for you to explore your problems and work towards greater self awareness. I am here to listen with compassion and warm empathy, so you can find your own path through your struggles, finding ways to reconcile your feelings or learn how to cope with them so you can fulfil your potential and achieve your goals.

I offer individual counselling on a long-term or short-term basis to adults and young people (13+) who need support in exploring their feelings and finding their own answers from within. I have vast experience in helping people with trauma, anxiety and bereavement but please see my ‘Issues I can help with’ section for more information about how I can help. When talking is too hard, we could work creatively.

Integrative Counselling

As a person centred and integrative counsellor, I will enable you to explore your emotions and make sense of them. I am not here to fix you. I am here to help you on your journey of self-discovery, offering you a fresh perspective so you can find your own answers from within. I will listen with absolute compassion and empathy so you feel comfortable sharing your experiences; I won’t judge and everything you relate to me will remain confidential.

I employ a person centred approach, which puts you in charge of the direction that we take and the pace we go at. You bring the issues that you want to explore to each session and you will never be pressured into sharing anything you don’t feel comfortable sharing. Only by building a strong and trusting working relationship with each other can we begin to help you on your pathway to greater self-awareness and a happier and more fulfilling future.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of approaches so I can offer you counselling that is tailored to your unique circumstances. No two people are the same, each with their own personal experiences and emotions so as we work together, I can use a range of counselling approaches help you explore your feelings in greater depth.

To help you make sense of your feelings, my belief is that no-one person is a text book. With that in mind I may draw on psychodynamics, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis which is a psychodynamic approach, CBT, psychosynthesis and Carl Jung’s magical thinking, especially dreams.

For more information on the approaches I use as an integrative trauma, anxiety and bereavement counsellor please see my ‘How I work’ section.

Working With Young People

I can work with young people, aged 13 and over on a range of issues they may be struggling with. Young people face many pressures in today’s society, such as peer pressure, school pressure, social media pressure or pressure from parents. Young people can also suffer from bullying, disassociation, self-esteem and anxiety issues, particularly since the Covid lockdowns, the war between Russia and Ukraine and worldwide climate change.

I can help young people make sense of their feelings and together we can work through them so they can understand themselves better. This can lead to a deeper understanding of their emotions so they can move forward in a positive way.
